New Scholarship Program for Students interested in the Food Industry has been launched by the Education Research Institute (ERI), a subsidiary of Food Northwest, formerly the Northwest Food Processors Association
[SFM] New Scholarship Program for Students interested in the Food Industry has been launched by the Education Research Institute (ERI), a subsidiary of Food Northwest, formerly the Northwest Food Processors Association – To help students “… achieve the proper education for the field, this 2018-2019 school year Food Northwest is offering nine scholarships, three of which will go to students at Washington State University, Oregon State University, and the University of Idaho, and the remaining six will be awarded to students from other institutions … The purpose of these scholarships is to further the education and training of deserving students in a relevant field of study, while also solving the industry-wide problem of finding skilled employees. This program is also designed to encourage these students to be ambassadors to their communities in promotion of the Food Industry … The ERI encourages current employees of food processing companies and their family members to apply for these scholarships to further their education in the industry …” – Food Northwest is “… one of the nation’s largest food processing trade associations [and] supports the needs of the Pacific Northwest food processing industry in a variety of food processing and packaging segments: fruits, vegetables, seafood, dairy, bakeries, specialty foods, juices, and more …”

Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. Scholarship-

The AOL Scholarship Competition is a $6,000 scholarship, $1,500 awarded annually (if student qualifies and is approved by the Scholarship committee) to Oregon high school seniors or current college students who intend to pursue a four-year college or university education and a career in a forest resource reproduction field of study.  Field of study examples: Forest Management, Forest Engineering and Forest Products
 
Each candidate must submit:
·               The AOL Scholarship Application Form
·               An original essay on “What challenges do you see in the field of logging and what are your views on meeting the challenges” not to exceed three pages, handwritten or typed. 
·               High school transcripts
·               SAT or ACT scores
·               Letter of Acceptance to 4 Year College – The college must be accredited by the Society of American Foresters,www.safnet.org/education/recognition.cfm. 
·               Field of Study or Major
 
Candidate will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
·               Candidate’s studies and experiences as they relate to chosen field of interest.
·               Scholastic performance in all classes as it relates to success in higher education (GPA).
·               SAT or ACT scores.
·               Thought process, grammatical usage and capability to express self in the essay.
·               Legibility, neatness and accuracy of information submitted.
 
The potential contribution of the student in a forest resource production related field is the important issue. Financial need of the student is NOT a criterion for selection. The selection of the winner will be made by the AOL Scholarship Committee, which are members of the association.

Selection is usually made by reviewing the items submitted. However, we could ask a finalist to be interviewed by the Selection Committee.

All entries will be acknowledged. The actual financial award will be paid to the college or university prior to September 1st. The winner will be invited to attend the scholarship luncheon held during AOL’s Annual Convention in January.

The 2018 National FFA Scholarship Application goes live Wednesday, November 15!

Students –

  • Access the application through FFA.org. FFA members create FFA.org accounts using an Invite code or FFA ID. (Invite codes are obtained from their FFA advisors.) Students with existing accounts sign in using those credentials.

Remember: Under no circumstances should FFA members create FFA.org accounts without an Invite code or FFA ID.Accounts created without an Invite Code or FFA ID  are for non-member use only. FFA members submitting a “non-member” application are not eligible for scholarships with membership criteria. (Submitting more than one application is grounds for disqualification.)

Membership status is checked before judging begins. ONLY STUDENTS WITH A CURRENT, ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP STATUS WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS WITH MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA. The deadline to confirm membership status with the National FFA Organization is MARCH 1, 2018. National FFA will not contact states during judging to confirm status.

The following two sponsors have added eligibility requirements:

  • America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders scholarships (Monsanto Fund) require applicants to obtain two electronic farmer endorsements. Details at FFA.org/scholarships (under the America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders logo) or at GrowAgLeaders.com.
  • Built Ford Tough scholarships require applicants to visit a participating dealer and obtain an endorsement on the 2018 Signature Page.

DEADLINES: The 2018 scholarship application must be submitted online prior to 11:59 p.m.* EST Feb. 1, 2018.

Signature Pages must be mailed postmarked no later than Feb. 8, 2018.

Attached you will find the 2018 Oregon FFA scholarship application which will allow your students to apply for multiple scholarships with one application.  Please remind your students to provide ONE ORIGINAL COPY of the application plus required attachments for EACH scholarship and to mark the box for each scholarship they are applying for.
 
You will also find the 2018 WLC scholarship application.  
All completed applications with attachments must be postmarked no later than or hand-delivered no later than 5 PM on January 31, 2018.  All incomplete or late applications will be rejected, NO EXCEPTIONS.  The Oregon FFA Association will not inspect applications for completeness prior to the deadline.

Oregon Jaycee Foundation scholarship program. Our foundation will award up to $ 2,000 in scholarships to several graduating Oregon high school seniors in the Class of 2017. The amount of the scholarship is a one-time grant. The final selection of a recipient will be based on the following criteria: leadership qualities, personal accomplishments and community service.

The Oregon Seed Council is offering scholarships again this year to college bound students who have had a connection to Oregon’s seed industry without regard to the area of study. Three scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $2,000, $1,000 and $500.   The application can  be found on the information page of the Oregon Seed Council’s website at http://www.oregonseedcouncil.org/info/   Please remind your students who qualify to apply for the scholarship.  The deadline for applications is March 1, 2017.

The 2017 Scholarship Application is live!

Advisors log into FFA.org to renew rosters and issue Invite codes. Advisors who do not have an FFA.org login should obtain one from state staff. FFA members must be renewed and active on the chapter roster. Invite codes appear by member names on the active roster. Invitations can be generated individually or by using the “Bulk Action” option.
